The Science of Happiness @ Work
Duration: 1 day.
Detailed outline: Vicky Eriksson and Karin Wellman from The People Element are both accredited by the iOpener Institute for People and Performance (Oxford, United Kingdom) as Happiness @ Work practitioners.
The iOpener Institute has researched and developed the Science of Happiness @ Work and has conclusively proven that happiness at work leads to increased performance. Happiness at work is defined as a mindset which allows you to maxmimise performance and achieve potential. The Institute has spent years researching, driving and building a body of empirical evidence which shows that increased performance is closely connected with happy employees. This approach is taking the world by storm and recently was adopted by the Wall Street Journal to develop a happiness index amongst the world’s largest corporations. It's based on the model of Happiness below - the 5Cs - each of which plays a major role in your happiness at work.

- Contribution - the effort your make and your perception of it.
- Conviction - your motivation.
- Culture - how well you feel you fit in at work.
- Commitment - the extent to which you feel you are engaged with your work.
- Confidence - the sense of belief you have in yourself and your job.
These are all encompassed by an outer layer: Pride and Trust in your organisation and Recognition for the work that you do. Finally, lying at the heart of all of this is achieving your potential. If you are, you will be happy at work and high performing. This model fits in perfectly with what The People Element does in that it provides a sustainable framework which focuses on the link between mindset and performance. The workshop assesses your own Happiness at Work, or that of your team or organisation to ensure that everyone is reaching their full potential; being recognized for the work they do; and feeling pride and trust in their workplace.
